Also lost in this, why would the Orioles even consider sending Hernandez down to keep Fahey on the roster? Fahey should be the one sent packing...

The ONLY answer would be that's its better for LH long term development to play every day (on the slight chance that he has a future). LH has definitely given us more than BF this season.

Fahey is not a terrible ball player. He may be a liar, a pig, an idiot, a terrible ball player, but he is not a porn star.

If we trade Tejada and do not get a SS in return, he's the best choice to play there until we can get a suitable offensve upgrade. If we traded for an 850+ OPS LF and signed Tex after '08 we could afford to carry Louis' glove.

I'm a little hesitant to post this because I don't want the debate on this to degenerate like it did in some other threads recently, but I do think it's somewhat noteworthy that a generally respected member of the local mainstream media had this to say...

source

I don't really know what else to say about this. It is kind of shocking that it could get close enough to serious consideration for Roch to be talking about it. Could it be that he knows something about a lucrative Tejada trade deal? Is there any chance of this actually happening? How would Tejada react? How would the rest of the team react?

Debate away, but guys, please be nice to eachother! ;)

Thanks for posting this perhaps since I didn't originate it this thread won't get shut down by an overly sensitive mod!::eek::P At any rate I am not at all surprised that people are seeing that the team plays superior defense absent Tejada at short. This is precisely my observation and as I have already posted I am not alone on this. Here is just further support of my perspective and hope that Tejada does DH mostly upon his return.

Maybe we should get a petition up! (Just kidding folks)!;)

What should really happen is Tejada should be moved to 3rd but then what do you do with Mora who has played very good defense. So I guess he should be moved to 3rd just not here.

100 % agree. If Payton gets dealt, Mora will get plenty of time in left and center. Plus, if Trembley keeps guys playing, Mora will also get time at third and short. He thrived as a utility guy, and that's where his future should be.

Interesting thought, but until I consider the idea a bit longer I'm going to have to say it's a less than ideal thing to do.

As the Geico Caveman says "What"? After all the espousing you did against it? You gotta be joking right? When I proposed this I was moronic in your view and ridiculed beyond belief, but now that Roch does the same you are re-considering?

Unbelievable, amazing and proof that wonders never cease!! That is all I can say!! I am astounded to the point of being speechless! Maybe you should have "considered" it when I proposed it eh? :(Good Grief!! This is a classic example of why it doesn't pay to be condescending if there ever was one.

Surprised nobody's mentioned the old idea of moving MT to first and trading...well, if not Millar, then one of the other two of Huff or Gibbons.

Doubt that MT would like the idea of first, though.

Don't see many 5'9" first basemen in the bigs. I wouldn't necessarily be averse to trying it but I bet the O's would be.

They are not going to move Mora back to a Chone Figgins role at his age. He was an abysmal shortstop in his prime and he no longer has anything approaching the speed to be a passable centerfielder. If ego weren't an issue, you might be able to move him back and forth between third base and left field, but that's about it. And remember, he backed out of the World Baseball Classic because his country (boy this thread is all about Venezuela isn't it?) wanted him to play LF. I think given Mora's NTC your best option by far is to trade Tejada rather than move him to 3B here... unless Mora has a setback and misses extended time with his foot.

Trading Huff or Gibbons just ain't happening. They would have done it already if it were possible. They are just too expensive for their production.

And for the person who said Miggy's too short... that only matters if your other infielders are tall enough to throw the ball over his head. ;)
