I was just amazed when folks would be down on Adley or suggest he wasn't the team's best prospect the last couple of years.

There were definitely times where his swing looked slow, too big, and too much of an uppercut. No one doubted the catching though. The concern is he wouldn’t be a star, and they needed a star especially out of that draft that is going to have a lot of stars.

I know when he's good, he's good. But Mountcastle is just not good right now. And hasn't been for a couple months. Painful.

Mountcastle has some big weaknesses.   He does not play a great first base and he is streaky with the bat.   He might not be a long term answer for the Orioles.  Maybe we should look to upgrade?  Any big firstbase on the free agent market in the offseason?

Hey, you made it almost all the way through the game this time.

Nice work.

I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up getting traded. Maybe not this off-season but possibly the next. I don't think he's Elias' type. Don't think we'd trade or sign a first baseman if that happened. It'd be a spot for the influx of infielders. Maybe Westburg, maybe Mayo.

    • I saw him hit some moonshot in college.  The power is in there but the swing wasn’t geared to do damage.  I’m going to try and go see him play soon.  It looks like he’s made some pretty significant swing adjustments.
    • Big day for the big 3 at the top of the lineup 1. Sosa 2 for 2 1 2B 3R 3BB  2. Estrada 3 for 4  1 2B 2R 1RBI 3. Arias 1 for 1 1 2B 2RBI 4BB Looks like these guys are starting to get going.  All athletic guys that can run. All 19y/o.  I think they will be a fun group to keep an eye on.
    • Do they really though.   The talk around here is how the Yanks have such a great pen and we have a a pen that needs an overhaul to major fixing.  We need more strikeout guys like they have and power arms.   However if you look at the numbers they are very similar looking at the 6 high leverage guys.  Webb, Cano, Coulumbe, Perez, Tate and Kimbrel vs the Yanks Weaver, Hamilton, Marciano, Ferguson, Tonkin, and Holmes.  They have pitched about the same number of innings 154 us vs 157 them.  Our Era 2.47 there’s 2.69.  Strikeouts 159 them 153 us or .05 more per 9 innings. Walks is us 44 and them 52.  If you look at individual numbers it shows similarities most pitchers are in the high 8’s to 9 in k’s/9.  We do have Kimbrel at 12.6 but Tate just at 6.1 which evens it out to about that 9.     Do I think we need to strengthen the bullpen yes for sure an upgrade from Akin and Baker to another high leverage guy should happen but just do believe the thought that we need to overhaul and fix it completely.  The 6 i listed are not going anywhere unless they fall off drastically.  If Kremer comes back you probably see Suarez move back to another spot in pen taking Bakers spot.  That leaves 1 spot you try to upgrade that is what we probably do but people thinking we need an overhaul just have blinders on and not looking at data.  I see suggestions like Kopech because he strikes guys out or Scott but neither of those guys are actual upgrades.
    • Horvath popped another dinger (#6).  OPS up to .738 Unfortunately Aberdeen doesn’t have a game feed tonight, so couldn’t see it.
    • Red Sox knocked out Aaron Nola after four innings, so Philly has used Gregory Soto, Orion Kerkering, and now Jeff Hoffman out of the bullpen. It's still the seventh inning. Keep working that bullpen! Also good to see Boston's offense rolling before the Yankees come to town.
