Starting Pitchers Left? Want Any Of Them?

Nope, all of the starters that would have been upgrades are gone and we came away empty-handed.

That said, I am fully expecting us to sign Chris Archer. He really feels like an Orioles type of signing.

I think there are still starters out there who would be an upgrade...over Kyle Gibson.

I don't see anyone on this list I would overpay for, which is why we have not signed any of these. I would think everyone wants more than what we gave Gibson. If we trade, we need a player with team control for a couple years. Again, we are forced to overpay in a trade.

By the way, I would love to see Grayson on the mound on opening day, or at least

the home opener.

I doubt he's a starter at this stage, but what am I missing about David Price.  His numbers still seem generally good, K/9 and BB/9 has been steady, but is he only an overpriced reliever?  Is he not even a piggy back option guy to buy down innings for GRod and goes 2-4 innings a game?

What would a contract cost?

I also find it funny that fangraphs predicts him to pitch exactly 1 inning this year.

You might be missing the part where his agent stated Price wouldn't pitch in 2023.

They may want more than Gibson got, but similar or better pitchers--Corey Kluber, Johnny Cueto, Wade Miley--have signed for equal or less than what we gave Gibson.

The Gibson signing was a fiscal and baseball disaster.

Things are ever worse than I've feared if Gibson's 1 year/10M deal counts as a fisical disaster for the team.

Elias seems to want to strike quickly to secure whatever marginal free agent talent he's targeted, and Gibson did have another suitor.
