2023 Ongoing Lineup Thread

Hopefully just a rest day for Mullins. He has had a pretty sloppy series in the field. You would have thought McKenna would start vs the LHP and Mullins vs the RHP, so kind of a weird choice for a scheduled off day. I like Frazier leading off.

We’ll know more when Brandon Hyde speaks this evening, but given Clarke Schmidt has allowed a .356/.430/.644 line in 100 plate appearances against lefties, certainly curious not to have Cedric Mullins in there. Mullins has played in every game this season.

I hope Mullins is okay, odd choice for a rest day.

I was hoping to see Ortiz start at SS tonight, would like to see him get as many starts as possible before Urias comes back.

It's not just a rest day for Cedric.   Not vs Schmidt.   Must be something, hopefully just something minor/nagging, or maybe even some personal reason he isn't with the team, will have to look for him on the bench tonight.

I think Cedric could be some house money at the end of a roadtrip, and some wanting him a little fresher for TEX.

I still don't really expect to beat NYY this year, but TEX is the one AL team looking like the biggest threat so far to keeping an 88-win, fourth place Orioles team out of the tournament.

I am starting to hope a little we might actually beat TOR.

In retrospect, he didn't look himself at times during last night's game. Went 0 for 5 and struck out 3x, and I believe there was a fly ball to CF that he normally catches but it dropped in. So whatever's going on with him may have started last night.

They probably should have lied.  This explanation is basically saying it’s nothing physical but Cedric has decided not to play tonight because he’s not in the right frame of mind.  It leads to a lot of speculation.

Then this board would have spent all day today and tomorrow with scenarios where he was hurt and going to be out for a long time.  This way it keeps fans calm and it just something personal he dealing with maybe a death in family or something.

Huh? The O's would announce if it was a physical issue. They'll tell you when it is a bereavement or family leave. But they chose to say it was personal reasons to clarify it wasn't a typical benching. It could be anything, but Isn't Cedric entitled to some privacy?

He’s entitled to privacy but it leads to a lot of speculation.  Fairly important game at Yankee stadium against a RHP.
