If the scorecard is gonna be this bad maybe roboumps are not gonna help.  No way that was in favor of us.  Jackson strike out, Adley strike out have to be two most impacted nit a 2-0 third pitch called strike that still became a walk.

Who it favored and by how much is just UmpScorecard's own "calculation", roboumps would simply get more precise balls and srikes, which is what everyone is after.

Why are you using quotes around calculation?  Are you accusing them of just making up numbers?

We do have an idea of how much impact the various counts have on the outcome of an at bat.

There is this for chart for instance, tracking the chance to get on base.

Because I don't know what metrics go into their decision as to how those blown calls affected the runs scored by either team. Either way this is a secondary point. If balls and strikes are called correctly, the predicted Overall Favor category in terms of runs becomes obsolete.

The Sunday game didn't get a scorecard for some reason, but the impact for Cleveland was a full +1.36, as Cory Blaser took a run off the scoreboard by taking away an RBI walk for Ryan O'Hearn on a 3-2 pitch and punching him out to end the inning (also denying the Orioles the run expectancy with bases loaded and two out in the AB after).

As technology progresses, I think some type of smart goggles/glasses will solve the problem of umpires’ inaccuracy of calling balls and strikes.   Apparently, industry has been working on it for a few years .  That’s probably more palatable for the umpire’s union than robo umps or replay challenges for balls and strikes.

That is pitiful.

By the way, I wanted to look at the chart of Sunday’s game, which featured a really ridiculous 3-2 call on O’Hearn with the bases loaded.  For some reason, they have a record of that game but no chart of the errant pitches.   3-2 with the bases loaded has to be about as impactful as it gets.

On the year, the O’s are -10 runs on bad calls (4th worst in MLB), while the Yankees are +19 (2nd best, behind Cleveland at +25).
