I can't back this up with statistics since I'm not sure they exist, but the variance with our runs scored feels high. There are many games like this one where they go long stretches without doing anything.

I would not trust this lineup in the playoffs. In which case, why would we upgrade the starting pitching mid-season by offloading the only assets we have as an organization?

How many more games are we gonna use that excuse? If this is a playoff team they are going to have to figure out some of these top starters.

Does it count when we beat Logan Webb, or Max Fried, or Zach Eflin, or Chris Sale, or scored 5 off Cole, or scored 7 off Bieber, or scored 7 off Sale another time?

Exactly. Look at what the Giants did. Yes it was due to injury but most of this lineup might as well be injured.

The part that frustrates me is that there's nothing to learn about most of these guys. They're not going to be on true contending teams. And they don't even have any history with the franchise that earns them the benefit of the doubt.

So for the sake of "winning now" with Aaron Hicks, we're losing out on the chance to learn about whether guys like Kyle Stowers, let alone Jordan Westburg/Joey Ortiz, have it in them to contribute when it really matters next year and beyond.

Stowers failed horribly when he had his chance. He's an automatic out.

Blanked vs Cobb and Burnes. And did virtually nothing vs Strider. We could play this game all night.

Meanwhile,  time for Zimmerman to shuttle on back to Norfolk.

So he just doesn't get a chance beyond ~100 at bats? I think Stowers was a bit overrated by most people here. If he had been drafted in 2022, he would get a bit lost in the shuffle.

But if not now, when would be an appropriate time to evaluate what you have with him? He's not an organizational guy, so he does deserve a shot.

If the front office feels pressed to win now to the point that they can't find at bats for prospects because they think they're going to have a rough time adjusting, then they must be planning on trading all of them, because the pressure to win is going to be amplified going forward.

I'm shocked they gave him 121 at bats over two seasons.

I don't think he's going to be a quality ML player but come on, 121 at bats?

Stowers 30 at bats this season equates to just over a one week slump for an established starting player.

I don't think he's going to develop into anything either, but he hasn't been given a fair shake yet.

We may have the see  the best version of this team in April and June.   Os have a better record than the Brewers but haven’t had an easy win like this all year.  Not dominating but wining a bunch of tight games.  Team looks worn out. If Elias refuses to call up better players is he still tanking?
