The problem with going short relief and using alot if pitchers is you increase the risk of putting a guy in who might have a bad night where his stuff or his command isn't working.

Contrast that to the starter who was having a great night and you know what your were getting.

Irvin fell behind the last two hitters and got hammered by one. And it's Cole Irvin. You can't pretend Irvin is a sure thing at all.
