This is just conjecture, but I wonder if it's the sophomore slump you hear about in all walks of life. In addition to being the starting catcher and one of the best hitters on the team, he's getting the national star treatment and locally viewed as the team leader. It's a lot of responsibility for one guy and could lead to being overwhelmed, getting in his own head, etc. But if that's the cause, I'm confident Adley is the type of guy who can move past that with time.
