Kjerstad possibly promoted?

I was wondering if maybe they could feel better about the status of the bullpen now after Gibson gave them a good start last night. If so they could be willing to get Irvin back up here so they have a true long man, even though he may still be unavailable for another day or two. Mountcastle to the IL and recall Irvin, Vespi down for Kjerstad.

We got a nice jolt from Trey Mancini in 2016.  He was called up on Sept. 20 and hit 3 homers in the 5 games he played.

Now that he’s been sent down, Irvin can’t return for 15 days unless he’s replacing an injured player.

As for #2, how does that scan with him not promoting Adley and Mountcastle when they were finishing the year at AAA?

I am not going to make an argument one way or another for why they should try and retain Cowsers rookie status for next year but I have a hard time believing if he is eligible he won't be mentioned as a preseason contender for the award.

As for #2, the window to compete wasn't viewed as open yet so those guys probably got held down longer to preserve service time.

Yea, this is a good point.  Maybe he views them as equal and Kjerstad has more tools that he is looking for on the current roster construction.

My guess is he uses Hicks and Frazier in RF. We see more Tony at DH. 2 starts for Kjerstad would be a major success but doubtful.

It appears we're going to face seven straight RHPs against Tampa and Houston, and maybe a few more in a row after that in Cleveland. 

If he's on the roster I think Kjerstad will start some of those games, including this weekend.

Someone has to get DFA'd for Kjerstad unless Mounty is a 60-day IL. I could see Vespi getting the whole ass DFA. But hopefully it will be someone like Krehbiel.

For the 60-day IL sure, but I would disagree about a straight DFA.

Until he goes down 0-2 in the count in his first at bat, the shine comes off, clearly can't handle MLB pitching, and he needs to be traded for anybody that'll take him.
