I’m shocked, SHOCKED, that all of the message board - and a certain podcaster - hand wringing was much ado about nothing.

Reminds me of most sports labor battles where people lament millionaires and billionaires, when all that’s happening is interests negotiating the best deal they can for the side they’re paid to negotiate for.

Before formally agreeing to a 30-year lease down the road, it appears that the current lease would first be extended. The first item on the stadium authority’s Monday agenda is “Baseball Stadium Lease Extension and Amendment.”

The authority members will discuss extending the current lease, which would allow time for “feasibility studies and government approvals to create a development plan.” If a ground lease agreement is not approved by a certain date, the agenda states, there would be an option to enter into a “new Facility Use Agreement with a 30-year term.”

Purely wishful thinking but it is kind of interesting that Angelos was speaking with Rubenstein on Wednesday and then this news drops the next day.

Better, but they’ve set expectations on 30 years kind of foolishly IMO. Ravens only agreed to 15 year lease I believe.

Ravens signed at the end of 2022 for a 15 year lease with two five year options. The Ravens original lease didn't expire till 2027.
