Glad to see the sun out.  They said no more rain.  I would have hated to see the game start and then rain after a few innings thus kicking Bradish out of the game.

    • Young players are very cheap and controllable, which is why teams are so reluctant to trade these days. In the case of Mayo, Holliday, and Basallo, all 3 have a very good chance at becoming productive players. A little failure at the big league level to start off is expected. Not everyone can be rookie of the year.
    • You want to give up on a guy with a career minor league OPS of .926, who reached AAA as a 21-year-old because he looked bad in 17 games in MLB? I mean, I'd trade him for the right player, but come on.
    • The Irvin velo jump comps are really poorly done here. Irvin has never averaged a fastball over 92.6 MPH in a full season. Rogers has been between 93-94.5 throughout his career.  After one year of a big drop (2024), the Os are just trying to get him back to where he has always been.   In other words, Rogers has a history of throwing a lot harder...Irvin didn't.  Rogers is also a lot younger.
    • Spot on. Depth is for 4A players or vets.  We’re at the point where we basically need a taxi squad in AAA or 4A/vet types for specific roles more than a bunch of prospects just getting a year older.  Prospect depth in AAA makes zero sense. Look at Stowers and Norby for examples of why that is bad. They just get older and everyone knows you have no place for them.
    • Mayo turns 23 in a week. He has almost 1700 MiL PA.  657 (or 39%) of his MiL PA are in AAA, at ages far younger than the average age player.  His OPS in those at bats is over 900. His OBP is around 380. His BA is pushing 280. His slugging is in the mid 500s. He has 34 homers, 38 doubles and 4 triples.  He has walked 82 times.  And the thought here is to send him down because MAYBE he will struggle at first base?  Its just illogical.  It is time for him to be here. There are no sane arguments to the contrary with the only exception being that you can't get anything of any value for either Mounty or OHearn. I am not willing to give those guys up for free but I have a hard time believing there isn't a trade out there for at least one of them that makes sense. And don't give me the depth argument either. We will have plenty of depth if we trade one of Mounty or OHearn to clear space for him. You don't need depth to the point it becomes a detriment to the team and your best talent. Depth is definitely needed and the Os do and will have it whether one of those other first base vets are here or not.
    • Why?  The draft pick was worth more to a team like Milwaukee that knows they can draft and develop. Maybe the CWS know they can’t?  Part of the problem is realizing you have a problem.  They didn’t want guys like Hall, and Ortiz, because they’re so far away that they didn’t want guys in the mlb currently, just to waste their 6+ years of service team control.  They’re not going to be good again until 2027/2028. So any contributions that Hall and Ortiz gave them until that time would’ve not only been meaningless but wasted service time years. I’m sure this is why they wanted Basallo and a deal for Cease didn’t happen. Now for this offseason and Crochet, what do they want?  If they’re shooting for 2027 then maybe they want a package or younger DSL types like they got for Cease and Fedde. So that would be names like Stiven Martinez, Keefer Morfe, Elvin Garcia, etc…, and/or recent NCAA draftees.  So maybe it’s not Mayo or Basallo for Crochet. Maybe it’s a package like 3-4 names from our DSL guys in A ball. But… like with everything… what do we really know? We’re just a bunch of fans talking baseball, so your opinion matters as much as mine.
    • I really don’t get it. We are talking about keeping some of the most elite prospects in the sport in the minors, despite a large sample size of high level play at all levels, just so we can play Mountcastle, OHearn, Mateo and Urias more? Is that really the discussion here?
