As for Suarez, the 34-year-old right-hander last appeared in the major leagues in 2017 as a member of the Giants. For his career, the righty sports a 4.51 ERA and 4.40 FIP across 115 2/3 innings of work in the majors. Since then, Suarez briefly appeared with the Diamondbacks at the Triple-A level before trying his luck overseas. The righty managed a 3.00 ERA in 162 innings of work in Japan’s Nippon Professional Baseball before moving on to the Korea Baseball Organization, where he pitched for the Samsung Lions for two years. In that time, Suarez appeared in 49 games for the Lions, 48 of them starts. The righty struck out 19.4% of batters faced while posting a 3.04 ERA in 281 2/3 innings of work for the Lions before ultimately being released to make room for right-hander Taylor Widener back in August.

Change up.  Slow, slower, slowest.  He was our closer and had success for about a month in 2021 before the league figured him out.  Amazing how much changed since then.

Yep …. It was ugly even when effective. Same thing with the Neikro’s back in the day.

Oh yeah I remember him now. Recognized the name but totally blanked on who he was.

It's apparent to me by now that the Orioles Front Office clearly believes in competition for opportunities. It's how they have found most of the core veterans on the active 26 man Big League roster... Guys like O'hearn, Perez, Bautista, Santander, Wells, Baker, etc etc etc.

Sometimes it works and they hit with their lottery ticket. Sometimes it doesn't. I thought Lewin Diaz was going to help the Major League team based on the way he performed in spring, but he never got called up. Lester did, but he didn't do anything in the Majors when he was up. But then you have Ryan O'hearn being the key clutch hitter that won some games for the team multiple time after time.

Perez & Baker were guys that came off the waiver wire to become bullpen staples in the 2022 season. Santander was plucked from the rule 5 draft and has developed into the best RBI hitter on the Orioles roster. Tyler Wells was another rule 5 pick who earned his way into the rotation after a healthy competition with other pitchers.

But yet folks still think we are prospect hoarding.  Iron sharpens iron.
