You sure MASN is included on this?

My father in law pulled it up, had MASN and MASN2.  Was watching the spring training game today.  I was skeptical but it seemed like it worked.

That’s pretty cool, then.

He is a tech guy.  Said he paid 350 one time up front for a box.  Would need a box for each TV.  Said he has no need for cable.  Had every college basketball game, every baseball game, every NHL game.  Not sure how it was legal or what.  Could literally watch ABC locally for each market.  Had like 40 local abc channels.

I'm fairly certain these are IPTV boxes, where a company sells you a box with an app "service" that steals satellite TV from places and pipes the channels to you.  Their website FAQs say "Watching movies, TV shows, and sports events won't violate U.S.& Canada Copyright law." But are also very careful to note that they only supply the box, any app you use is on you.

Had a roommate in Germany that had a satellite dish installed outside the window.  He'd pay to get the "hot box" to get all the channels.  Sometimes It'd last six months, sometimes six days.  You never knew.

Back in 1980, pre-cable when you could get satellite channels by renting a descrambler box, I lived for a couple of weeks with a kid from Cal Tech who just built his own descrambler box from scratch.  Smart kid.

Just out of college I had a roommate who was an electrical engineer.   We lived in Linthicum (just south of Baltimore, near the airport).   He was from Philly and a big Eagles fan.   So he got up on the roof and pointed the roof antenna in the direction of Philadelphia.  I don't remember the #s  for sure now but for example let's say that Channel 12 in Philly carried the Eagles game.   He set up pass band filters that would block out the signals of Baltimore channels 11 and 13, which would normally bleed over into channel 12 and make it impossible to get the farther (and thus much much weaker) Channel 12 signal from Philly.   And then he put some sort of amplifier on the line to amplify the Channel 12 signal.   It was fuzzy, but we were able to watch the Eagles game.   I don't think he told his employer that he borrowed some of the equipment from work but he returned it all when we were done using it.

    • I have two tickets to Game 1 of the WC which I cannot use due to work travel.  Section 352, row 4, seats 9 & 10.  Asking $70 total for the two.  Paid $205 to the Orioles as a season plan member.   PM me if interested.  Paypal preferred.
    • Can't make game 1. I'll be at game 2...last time I was at a playoff game at Camden, we beat Scherzer and the Tigers.
    • He should be taking fly balls all winter.
    • That was a lot of fun. Felt like there are certain elite seasons that had to be part of the team, and then tried to build from there.  Outfield depth is a little shaky, as is the rotation — though the latter is probably mostly unavoidable. The lineup would rake and the bullpen would shove, so pretty happy with this combination.   C 2022 Adley Rutschman (5.4 rWAR) 1B: 1998 Rafael Palmeiro (6.3) 2B: 2005 Brian Roberts (7.3) 3B: 2015 Manny Machado (7.5) SS: 2024 Gunnar Henderson (8.9) LF: 1999 Brady Anderson (5.9) CF: 2021 Cedric Mullins (5.9) RF: 2008 Nick Markakis (7.4) DH: 2013 Chris Davis (7.1) Bench: 2003 Melvin Mora (4.7) Bench: 2006 Miguel Tejada (4.5) Bench: 2011 Matt Wieters (5.2) Bench: 2001 Jeff Conine (2.9)   SP: 2000 Mike Mussina (5.7) SP: 2007 Erik Bedard (5.7) SP: 2019 John Means (4.4) SP: 2002 Rodrigo Lopez (3.7) SP: 2010 Jeremy Guthrie (4.5) RP: 2016 Zach Britton (4.1) RP: 2023 Felix Bautista (3.0) RP: 2004 B.J. • Gray started off well  but then ran out of steam a bit. He's not getting any younger. I was interested in him last year but I think the Cardinals overpaid and his contract only gets worse.
    • A bit. Nothing life changing, but the format seems…Cleaner.
