Corbin Burnes 2024

Oh so you’re supposed to throw it over the plate for strikes and not out of the zone but making them chase a ball.  lol. That maybe one of the dumbest things I heard.  I would much rather my pitcher throw pitches outside the zone the hitter chases then throwing it over the middle of the plate to hit.

Yes. You are supposed to throw pitches that don’t run the pitch count up to 98 in under 6 innings.

And he has gone 6+ innings in 2 of them

Please tell us which starters you’d rather have on the team than Burnes.

I dont fault Burnes...but Im sure Burnes faults Burnes...this pen is ghastly...

The pen was very good for awhile.  Lately it's been a different story with guys like Heasley and Ramirez getting a shot.  I'm not really worried about guys like Akin or Coulombe but I would like to see a starter with a decent lead go a bit further into a game to take some pressure off the pen.

I think Burnes gave us all we could expect in today's modern game of limiting pitch counts and Perez is just a monster who managed to slam a ball painted on the lower inside part of the corner of the zone. Not many batters would be able to hit that ball like he hit it.

As for the bullpen, I'm getting a clearer pitcture of Akin. Akin is a left on left specialist and that's all we should rely on him for. He's a classic LOOGY, if there were still LOOGY's in today's game after they changed the rules.

And your point is what? … News flash.. We won ALL THE GAMES!

It’s not too hard to figure out the point. The less innings the starter pitches, the more stress it puts on the pen.

Here’s a simple question for you - Can you name 5 starters in the AL that you would take over Burnes?

I dunno.  The hits against Akin yesterday were not hard hit.  The jury is still out on him and most of the guys in the pen.

Stupid argument

How is it a stupid argument?  If Burnes isn’t an ace, then what pitchers are??? If there aren’t any aces in baseball, then you can’t have the argument either.

Because it doesn’t really matter what pitchers from other teams are doing. He was given a 7-0 lead and wasn’t able to find a way thru the 6th inning. He has only been able to do so twice in five starts. If you want to kiss his ass, feel free. But given the game situation, this was an extremely disappointing performance.

If you were “extremely disappointed” that Burnes helped halt KC’s 9 game home winning streak then maybe it could be time for either reassessment or acceptance that your standards may be a little unrealistic?
