Statistical oddities

Because of the depth of statistics and literally hundreds of thousands of baseball games that have been played, the game is ripe with statistical oddities and rarities and achievements. 

This thread will be a place to chronicle those things that happen.

Some people hate this stuff and think it's silliness.   If so, this thread isn't for you.   But if you enjoy these tidbits, this thread is where you will find them.

The first one:

Corbin Burnes is the first starter to have 10+ strikeouts while allowing 0 or 1 hits on Opeing Day since Lou Warneke of the Cubs in 1934.

Tyler O'Neill, former Cardinal who is now with the Red Sox, homered in his 5th consecutive Opening Day list night, a new MLB record.  The previous record of 4 had been held by Todd Hundley, Gary Carter, and Yogi Berra.

The last time Anthony Rendon got a hit, his current teammate Nolan Schanuel was in college.

Since Rendon's last hit last July 3rd, Schanuel was drafted, promoted to A AAA, then MLB, and has 33 MLB hits.

Elly De La Cruz hit home runs from both sides of the plate, one over the fence and one inside the park, had a steal, and 4 runs scored.

He is the first player ever to do all those things in the same game.

Joey Gallo has 40 strikeouts and 1 single so far this year.

The two pitchers before him threw 3.0 IP each.  Then he threw 1.0 IP.  The guy who came in after him let two inherited runs score.  It's a mess.
