It is absolutely possible. In 2022, the Mets gave a QO to Bassitt, Nikki, and DeGrom. The Red Sox gave a QO to Boegarts and Eovaldi. The Yankees gave a QO to Judge and Rizzo. The Dodgers gave a QO to Turner and Anderson.

I know that it seems to be a foregone conclusion that Santander will not be on the team after this season, and while I generally agree that it is more probable than not that he will not be re-signed, I do think there is a non-zero chance that he will be retained. I think he is the most likely of Mullins, Hays, and himself to be retained, even if it is a small chance. The team has told us how they feel about his bat because he plays essentially everyday, and I have heard Kostka say that they value his clubhouse presence.

Sydnor, you listed four teams , Yankees, Red Sox , Mets & Dodgers . You said each applied QOs to two of players . Did any of those teams lose both players ?   And were they awarded two comp picks. ?

The Red Sox got picks 132 and 133 in 2023 for Eovaldi and Bogaerts.

The Mets got 134 and 135 in 2023 for Bassitt and DeGrom.

The Dodgers got 136 and 137 in 2023 for Turner and Anderson.

The Yankees ended up keeping their guys, so they got nothing.

Not that these have ever been known to be accurate, but the guess here is 4 years $60 million: https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10124473-predicting-mlb-free-agent-contracts-for-top-names-of-the-2024-25-class

Would he take 1 year $21 million over that? Not a slam dunk but probably not.

Here's the history of QOs: https://www.mlb.com/news/history-of-mlb-qualifying-offer-decisions-c300602464

I don't know if there is a switch hitter with more HRs than Santander over the past few years, power gets paid, I suspect they give him a QO and he gets a longer deal elsewhere.

I could see the Phillies putting Marsh in CF and signing Santander.  He would fit really good in their lineup and they like guys that are similar in that they are very good players and but won’t cost an insane amount of money.
