The park doesn’t help..over the last 3 years, their park factor is 92…the next closest is 96.

Of course the park helps with the pitching.

Which is why Kirby is Cy Young at home and has a 4+ ERA on the road.

A little Fenway effect going on with the park. They've actually had an OPS+ over 100 six times since 2015, but seems like they're always trying to improve the offense because the unadjusted numbers don't look good.

Of course this year their OPS+ is just 93 so they could really use some help.

I'd imagine it was a rare feat back then. If you strike out less than 1200 times a year in this day and age that's pretty elite.

From 1920-1950 no team struck out even 800 times in a full season. This year's Astros are 30th in strikeouts and are on pace for 1107, and three teams have already struck out more than 800 times before July 4th.

The 1921 Reds struck out just 308 times all year. There have now been nine teams that struck out more than 308 times in a month, led by the 2022 Giants who struck out 328 times in September (and a game or two in October) of 2022. Of course the '21 Reds also hit just 20 homers all year. Big Edd Roush led the team with four, to go along with his eight strikeouts.
