The Brewers were also in a completely different position than the Tigers and have been really competitive every year. The Tigers just don’t look like they’re very close to putting it all together. -

Yeah Burnes was a very obvious trade candidate for a lot of reasons but since Milwaukee still wanted to compete this year they kept their intentions quiet. Advertising the trade chip might have scared away a vet like Hoskins. Skubal is an unlikely trade candidate but if Detroit can’t get a return for Flaherty because of his recent back injury, they might see Skubal as the only way to substantially fill their roster holes.

The Yankees will do Yankees things and trade for Bellinger or someone who has been middling who will then catch fire. At this point I think Rodon isn’t what they thought. Cole will be good provided he can stay healthy. Their problem is their lineup is generally 77% pooty tang. I feel like if we add another solid starter and bullpen piece, we’ll be in good shape. I mean we’re already in *good* shape. That may put us in great shape. A Mullins resurgence surely wouldn’t hurt. The guy I struggle with is Mateo… yeah he’s fast and very good defensively. But his bat is atrocious and I worry this year may mirror last year. Once that decline begins, it has historically snowballed on him. The next 3 weeks should be interesting. -
Nice job digging into some peripheral prospects. I want to see Trimble in AA but since he's been mostly held back by injuries, he's worth keeping an eye on still. I've liked some things I've seen from him since he's been back, but still not a lot of pop in that bat. Young doesn't impress me in the field or at the plate. Way too many holes in his swing and he's been really unimpressive tool wise in the field. I expected more from a guy who got that much of a bonus. I only watched a little bit of Rojas so will need to check out a full start to evaluate the stuff. I know before the injuries there wasn't a ton of velocity but good breaking stuff. Don't know anything about the other guy other than the stats. -

With Skubal's injury history you could get almost nothing. I see your point. These trades are always risk/reward. As I pointed out in your trade proposal thread, which by the way I really think is well done by you, pitching is expensive and when purchased at the deadline in extremely expensive. -
