I think just have to wait and see how it plays out. Pache is a defense guy. I think Mayo's RH bat comes up soon to replace Hays' RH bat. Pache may not even be long for this roster, but if he is, it'll be strictly as a bench guy/defensive replacement.

To be clear, these are 2024 numbers in minuscule sample sizes.  I actually don’t even know what a “late inning pressure” stat is.  Never heard of it.

I kinda have to giggle at the people criticizing this trade. This board has spent all season saying we need to get rid of Hays because he can't hack it anymore. What did you expect to get for him? What would you give for him?  Seems like a solid trade to me. Unless Pache pulls an Aaron Hicks, he probably gets released at some point.

Hays wasn't playing anyway but the veteranosity of him probably had Hyde playing him more than he should have been. I don't think you see him doing that with Pache.

Exactly. Hays is non tender candidate next year. Get anything for him.

Anyone who said Hays can’t hack it anymore judged him on his first month of the season and has ignored how he’s played since then.  He has an .872 OPS since coming off the IL in May.  Overall, despite the terrible start, he has a 106 OPS+, right in line with 107 for his career.   

Saying that, I have no problem with the trade.

To get Dominguez on the 26 man roster a pitcher needs to be optioned.   I would guess that is Baker.

When Povich is called up next week  either Akin or Smith need to be optioned.   Barring other trades.

Dominguea has 5 years of service time which means he can not be optioned without his permission.
