Are the O's Running Adley into the Ground

Seems to me he's gotten plenty of rest this year. SG and others have actually argued for him to start more games at catcher.

I don't know what's going on with Adley. What happened to the line drive clutch hitter that we had? He's looked terrible for over a month now. I'm trying hard to not overreact, but I don't see how it's not concerning just in terms of the team's chances this year. Long term I'm sure he'll be fine.

@Malikepointed out that he drilled a few balls yesterday, just right at defenders.

I think Adley's leadership means a lot to this club and he's certainly a face of the franchise.  He's still on the upswing of his career so there's still room to grow but I'm also coming around to the idea that he's probably not going to be the next Joe Mauer, Buster Posey, etc.

Gunnar is young and wants to be flamboyant and be on MLB every night

This is terrible and doesn't have anything to do with the thread.

Any time the post starts with "just asking the question" the answer is most likely no. He is in a slump but he had some good AB's last night and had some hard outs. You could do some research to see where he stands in games played at C. Lol, a lot of folks here have been complaining that McCann is playing too much.

I like to ask questions to this board as this is the most knowledgeable groups of O's fans that I have come across.   Truly thought out and well researched.  I dont have the time to research as much, nor am I as skilled as the folks on here.  I rarely share opinions as i'm just not knowledgeable enough to have opinions that are anything more than a really ignorant biased view of things, not rooted in fact.

The way they handle Adley is stupid. They kill his value. They play him too much.

He’s in a bad slump right now and that happens to all players.

What do you think is the optimal way to get max value?  More catching, but more days off (instead of DHing so much)?

I looked it up and he is not in the top 5 for C games played.

Agree. I think he’s going to be (and has been) much closer to Jason Varitek than Posey or Mauer. That would be a fine career but far from the hype.

This makes no sense. I think Gunnar holds his effort, the team, and the outcome in high regard. He is a special player and the best talent we have had since Manny Machado. If Gunnar was a free agent today he would have a deal in hand for a quarter of a billion or more.

The problem is he can’t hit and play catcher
