I think the wall is going to drive the overwhelming majority of our best hitters — the LH hitters they’re intentionally stacking — not to work oppo.

Because aside from the top 5 MVP finisher with the amazingly thunderous bat, left field at OPACY is death to our other mere mortal LHHs. They’ve struggled to even get hits out there, let alone do any XBH damage.

Eventually they’re going to adjust away from doing the same ineffective thing. They’d be idiots not to.

The older I get, the more I think people just exist to look for confirmation biases. In all avenues of life. Paul Simon wrote “a man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest.”

I’m sure if we beat the Royals and advanced and Walltimore robbed three or four homers from the Royals, we’d be extolling its virtues and how great it is. 
 

But that didn’t happen. If anything, there were a couple instances where, if anything, it worked against us. 
 

So here we are. 

I couldn't care less what Aaron Judge thinks about anything. And I'll still hate looking at that wall even after the O's win the WS next year.

Their numbers might look a bit worse, superficially, due to a few extra home runs, but wouldn't that be offset by opposing pitchers also giving up some extra home runs?

This is a great idea. Solves two problems at once. Better park dimensions, better luxury options.

Maybe. But the Os offense has been one of the best in the league anyway. They may be better but how much better would they be?  
 

The pitching would undoubtedly be worse.  We aren’t throwing a lot of elite guys up there.

I really don't care about the Wall.  Anyone guessing about what the Wall does or doesn't do to our hitters is merely guessing and hypothesizing.  I'm sorry, but I don't care what it's allegedly done to Ryan Mountcastle.  

It helps our pitching, pure and simple.  For years we heard whining about how we'd never have good pitching because OPACY was a bandbox.

And now it's too cavernous?  Give me a break.

No, but I think it's unrealistic to expect they can just make adjustments that easily and so soon after using funding and taking an entire offseason to do the construction. A revision would have to have been planned well in advance and we've heard nothing about that. So... adjust expectations accordingly.

Yeah I think we’ve got one more year with it. I don’t think it’ll be nearly as big as some of the other planned projects but I’m not sure they want to do things piecemeal either. It’ll probably be the same construction team to complete that job as the team who renovates the area behind homeplate

We didn't have good pitching because we didn't have good pitchers. OPCY never mattered. New Yankee Stadium is a bandbox, yet the Yankees pitchers seem to survive just fine.
