It seems like more-and-more people are starting to think Zack Wheeler will be the O's pick, provided Ackley and Crow are gone by the time the O's draft.

Thanks for the links. IMO, I think it's between Matzek, Wheeler and White (in that order) for the Orioles pick.

For his myspace, it says that it is run by Jacob Wheeler, presumably his brother? It also says he is from Dallas, which IIRC he is from the Atlanta area.

Anyone else think his delivery from the stretch is horrible mechanically? Way too jumpy, a LOT needs to change for him. Maybe a project.

In that clip his timing seems rough to me overall, but I'm no expert.

From the windup he gets his pitching elbow so high that you can see the infamous "Inverted W." He doesn't get it up so high from the stretch (at least not this clip) so that probably affects his timing.

Whether any of this is a bad thing depends on how you feel about the Inverted W. Some think it's a precursor of arm injury.

Anyway, an inverted W is not a binary thing . . . there are degrees of it.

I've only heard of those two. I said it was coin flip between Turner and Wheeler, and just took Turner at that moment because had to choose somebody. Mock drafts have the Orioles taking 20 different guys. Wheeler wouldn't surprise me at all because of signability. - Roch
