Phils Interest in Lowell

I heard on the radio a little while ago that the Phillies are offering Lowell 4 years, $50 million. I belive they said Olney is reporting it, but I don't have Insider and I don't see a teaser for the story anywhere.

So, does this mean that contrary to what they publicly said (and what several OH'ers pointed out to me), they are actively looking for a 3rd baseman? Or is Lowell such a step up that they'd get him if they can, but they won't be loking at Mora or even Tejada as a possible solution to their Dobbs / Helms platoon at 3rd?

I don't think Melvin is anybody's first option at 3B these days, but that doesn't rule out the Phillies making a play for him if the Lowell thing doesn't pan out.
