Lew Ford played about 5 straight years in the majors and wasn't awful (.750 OPS). It's a little strange that he's bounced around independant leagues, Japan, and the minors for the last 5 years without another cup of coffee anywhere. He's 35 so he really is persistent. Doesn't look like anything more than filling in for Avery while Avery is up here.

Exactly. The affiliates need someone who can play. And instead of cluttering the 40 man roster with Outfielders to play at Bowie and Norfolk with no hope of ever being more than a September call up, Duquette prefers to use the independent leagues for that.

Lew Ford is the most hated player in recent memory. Ever since Duquette signed him last month, he's been nothing but a cancer in the AAA-Tides clubhouse. The Tides players and coaches all hate him, as do almost all of the fans that have watched him at Harbor Park Stadium. I hate him, as does just about every other Oriole fan on the planet. If Ford has disappeared, good riddance. It couldn't have happened soon enough.

There was a lot of "I hate Lew Ford" stuff posted somewhere in another thread, but it seemed like posters were playing off each other and just joking around. Maybe not.
