I wonder if the Orioles ever had a player responsible for two wrecked seasons. He blew last year in the playoffs and this year he is even better. He is wrecking our chance at the playoffs.

That's what I said. He pissed our chances away at the ALCS last year. Now we can't get into the damn playoffs. Because he can't get people out.

I think DD was ahead of everyone including Buck, most of all, in landing KRod the veteran closer for just this purpose. If JJ continues to fail I think DD and the warehouse will be all over Buck to make a change. I hope it's not too late. The fans are restless Buck. Really restless! I'm talking to Oriole fans who have said some pretty bad things about JJ I never thought I would hear. We have three big series coming up at OP and we have to win most of the games. The Orioles in this Arizona series have hit more deep fly balls to the walls and just foul down the lines than I can remember. The Oriole hitters impatience at the plate is really irritating right now. The pitcher tonight I think had a couple of 5 pitch innings. Just crazy. Gonzalez didn't have time to take a leak between innings. Boom in the 11th Goldschmidt hits his 2nd HR of the night off of McFarland on a sweet pitch right over the plate Chris Davis would have hit 470.' Really bad loss. Really bad. Buck almost ran out of the dugout to the tunnel. Maybe JJ will get bumped now instead of later. Can't wait to hear his postgame show after KRod had 2 K's in his quick 1,2,3 8th.

Johnson gives up a rare homer to a great hitter, and people want to replace him with a pitcher that has given up 4 homers since we traded for him.

He's the best option, and that's not going to change. Every other pitcher in our BP has matchup problems.

Then they should be playing match-up's instead of praying for saves and/or rain.

Not that I'd actually lobby for K-Rod... but Johnson did far more than just give up the tying homer in the 9th. He looked awful. A little luck is the only reason the game wasn't lost then and there.

    • Is there a way to sticky a post within a thread? Because this could be used to respond to dozens of comments about what the FO was thinking with this one.  Rogers was acquired as a mid to back end SP, to address a need for arms now and with hope to help him rebound to the higher end of that range over those years of control. As usual, whether you agree with them or not, Elias stated his intentions clear as day.
    • I no longer subscribe but still get promotional emails and I believe Baseball America issued a Top 100 update recently. Usually @RZNJ is good at sharing the occasional BA tidbit here and there. Big picture I'm ready for prospect watching to be over.    Cedric's replacements I don't hope much they'll outdo what he's given the Orioles the last few years, so Basallo whenever it happens is really the end of a (glorious) chapter in Orioles player development. I think we'll probably better serve building the Orioles brand as a place Adley and others want to be forever if our farm ranking is low-ish in three years. I'll give an exception if Ethan Holliday Eli Manning-style steers himself to BAL.
    • Ah, okay. I see now that was before Povich's start. I still think Povich's start should be behind only Bradish's 84.
    • This scoring system completely disregards the opponent. Povich's last start wasn't in the top 11? That kind of discredits this score. Yes, it was against the WS, but this is not taken into account by this score.
    • “He’s had a couple of funky injuries,” Elias said. “He’s had some lat injuries to both sides of his back. He’s missed some time from that. He’s still young, he gets a lot of ground balls, he throws from the left side. Both of those things are something that our rotation has been lacking a little bit. There’s a few years of control with him, and you get a really good pedigree. So we’re hopeful for a bounce back. But he fits a profile and a need in our rotation. He’s shown that he’s got the ability to be anywhere from a No. 3 to a No. 5 starter in the past, and any one of those things we’ll welcome with open arms right now.” https://www.masnsports.com/blog/elias-tackles-variety-of-topics-after-trade-deadline
    • Trying to paint Elias as someone with a lot of "arrogance" is one of the funnier and more ridiculous attempts at creating a narrative on here.   A good chunk of the time when someone is calling someone else arrogant, they're really projecting.
