The people that argue in favor of him usually point to his fangraphs FIP numbers. You know, the statistic that doesn't differentiate between a comebacker and a ball hit of the top of the wall.

I don't argue in favor of "him." I argue in favor of using sound judgement and analysis. If you give a guy a spot in your rotation, you don't dump him because of a bad inning especially one that would have ended if our outfielder made a halfway decent play. If you expect young pitchers to be good as soon as they are called up, you will never have good pitchers.

Pathetic performance in that half inning. Bases loaded NOBODY out and nobody hits the ball anywhere close to being out of the infield. Games often hinge on that kind of performance.

We had 4 ABs with the bases loaded and didn't get the ball out of the infield...or hit the ball hard anywhere. This, against as bad a pitcher as we'll see all year. We've had terrible ABs all year from everyone not named Davis, Jones, or Wieters.
