Bedard to Halos??

I think they said the deal would be Aybar, Wood, Morales, Rivera, and Sauders.

Ugh! I hope that this is incorrect. I'd rather have Jones alone than this group.

How is this a bad deal?

You get your SS in Wood...2b in Aybar...LF in Rivera...1B in Morales...and Saunders is a serviceable 5th SP.

Who to believe more, the guy who heard something from someone's mom or the guy who says he got an email?

Yes, but we heard things from two different SUN reporters backing up the person with someone's mom. Besides, what ever told us that that guy had any source at all? We have gotten hints from our (verified) sources saying the opposite. This will be an interesting day. Too bad wifey is making me go shop for a suit. You know who wears the pants, eh?

They must have caught MacPhail at six in the morning while he was still half asleep!

I once agreed to a three year subscription to a bodybuilding magazine! With a telemarketer catching me while I was just getting to bed after a 12 hour shift!

That just tells you Reagins is smart!

Yeah, you fill all of those positions, but you don't really fill them well. As far as I'm concerned, Wood is the only high upside player in that bunch.

BTW, the guy supposedly got another update:

The deal with LAA will be announced sometime next week. BAL called LAA and a few other teams and told them about SEA's final offer. LAA made a late bid. BAL had talks with LAA before about Bedard, but nothing serious. SEA wasn't willing to pony up all the players BAL wanted from them. BAL wanted Jones, Triunfel, Clement, and Sherrill, but SEA wasn't willing to part with Jones and Triunfel in the same package. SEA wanted to replace Triunfel with Tillman, but BAL wouldn't budge. I'm not allowed to go public with this trade yet, there's a pending Roberts trade with another team.

You're telling me we would take that LAA package over Jones, Clement, Tillman, and Sherill?? It's gotta be a joke, either that or someone leaking out BS to try to get Seattle to squirm.

Now looking back at that e-mail that was last night and the plane tickets were issued this morning, so maybe just maybe the Angels came in with their offer and Seattle learned about this and finally gave in to MacPhail's demands to keep Bedard away from the Angels...

This has got to be bogus. There's no way in hell that Wood, Morales, Rivera, Saunders, and Aybar trumps Jones, Sherrill, Tillman, and Clement.

Right...This Angels (supposed) offer isn't nearly as good.

Rivera is a throw in at this point because of the OF/DH situation in Anaheim.

Saunders is another back of the rotation guy...Something we have plenty of.

    • Exciting night.     His arm could still explode on his next pitch like anybody, but the scenario feels very Dodgers. The rosiest scenario is Bradish and Grayson spend the rest of their Orioles pitching careers like Glasnow or Yamamoto, or Ohtani starting next year. He was a hand-me-down from Duquette, but he's the one getting to have the career so far that Sigbot envisioned for Brady Aiken or Forrest Whitley.     Watching management manage and the player want to be unshackled figures to be fine entertainment. I guess an arbitrator wouldn't give money for regular season stats you were forecasted to have but didn't have because your talent was being rationed.    I'm fuzzy if postseason stats get to count in arbitration.
    • Is there a backpedalling option to DFA where you can pull the guy back and put him back on your 40 man?
    • I agree with your characterization.  See my earlier post before all the expert analysis of Holliday’s weightlifting exploits.  I’m just making a general observation that Cal needs to be more careful now.  This comment doesn’t particularly concern me.
    • That’s fine. I’m just saying, Mullins doesn’t have a track record of being a star at the plate and he did not look as good visually over the first 3 week as the OPS stated.
    • But he's expressing his opinion in hindsight and not questioning the actual move to bring him up.   He not saying he wouldn't have brought him up.  He's saying that since he struggled so much MAYBE he needed more AAA time.  Maybe he was affected by the hoopla.   He was questioned on why Holliday struggled.   He gave the same guesses the rest of the world is giving, including Elias.    His answer equates to "I don't really know but it could be this".   It's not even close to "At the time, I thought they called him up too soon".
    • He’s under the ball, and pulling everything.  It’s either strikeouts, pop outs, or grounders to the right side.  I agree it’s very tough to watch.  I still say he he’ll get at least another 4-6 weeks to snap out of it before the O’s make any significant change to his role.
    • My hope is that someone will be anxious to have him and will trade us something in order to jump the line.
