Looking on the internet it looks like 6 months for a position player. In theory after we win the World Series he could be back by May, if that time frame holds.

Most position players yes. A catcher might need a little more time.

We should just ask the Rays' trainer. He can diagnose it from the other dugout.

Or we could have the Reds trainer send his medical assistant to examine it. Because she's there. And married to Ball Four.

I would think in theory they could wait a couple of months and he could still be ready for next year. Don't have to make a decision right away.
