Anyone else tired of this being one of the biggest ST stories this year?

I'm high irrational mode, so first of all, F the Cubs. Yes, that's right. No team gets so much publicity for sucking for as long as they have. Yes, they have a beautiful, classic stadium. They've had some great players over the years. But they're awful and yet, for some reason, the media always gives them attention.

Next, they're not doing anything wrong here, they're not doing anything against the rules. Boras would do the same thing if he was in Epstein's shoes, so would Tony Clark...keep the guy down for a couple weeks, get an extra year out of him. Bryant isn't the first player this will happen to, he's not the last. Stop the whining.

They're getting a lot of hype because they're finally supposed to be good this year. The prospects have finally arrived after years of talk and they finally went and spent some money.

Jake might regress. They may not be real good. For your sake I hope they are.

The Chicago Cubs are a longtime running joke among las vegas bookmakers: "You know how many casinos have been built on bets on the cubs to win the World Series?"

Espn...

Vegas is once again poised for expansion.

The Cubs are 6-1 to win the World Series at the MGM. Only the Washington Nationals, at 5-1, have better odds. The number of bets on the Cubs more than doubles any other team in the MGM's World Series futures pool.

"Every year, they bet the Cubs," Jeff Stoneback, assistant manager at MGM race and sports. "I could be their ace and you could be their No. 2 starter, and they'd still bet them."

The Cubs haven't won the World Series since 1908.

A few guys having a random conversation in late March of 1912:

"It's been 3-plus years already ....... The Titanic will sink before the Cubs win another World Series."

Yeah the WS odds are absolutely ridiculous and I don't think anyone actually expects that. Most people are expecting what the projection systems are saying, 82-86 wins. That gives them an outside shot at a WC, 2016 should be the first year they're a real division threat.

I think that is very reasonable.
