Last year we had one of baseball's best defenses. This year, the outfield play has been very bad at times and even at best it is not as good as last year's outfield defense. Manny has not played anywhere near as well as he has in previous years. Until JJ returned, ss was not good. Overall, another reason why we are not winning games thus far.

The Orioles defense the past few years was a MAJOR component of their resurgence. Defense is the most underrated component of baseball. Great defense can be demoralizing to an opponent, and a morale boost to your pitchers. Defense is what made a mediocre rotation look good for the Orioles in the past few seasons. If they can't catch the ball, they are done. They just do not have any dominating starters.

Bud is an MLB starting pitcher. He should be capable of pitching more than 3 and 2/3. No way he is coming out til he gets beat.

He was at 80 plus pitches all over the place and putting guys on. He was beat. So you look to prevent those other runs from scoring especially in a game where your offense is a k machine and yanked 8 and 9 pitchers have embarrassed the league this year. So you pull Bud and try and keep it 2-1 and 4-1. At 4-1 game is over.

Is this good news? Or just more minor league filler?

But Buck hasn't shown a tendency to do that.

I am not saying your move wouldn't be the right one, I am saying Buck's past history says he wouldn't have done it.

Of course and sometimes Bucks ego gets in the way of a fighting chance.

We just claimed this guy. Someone on the 40 is gone. And it's not Garcia. He's pitching.

Good PCL stats this year and last. Too old for the Rockies.

I think Bordick is mistaken

TJ McFarland has not contributed to the Orioles in a meaningful way.

Garcia isn't either so far.

Flaherty has doe well as a utility infielder but can not bat. We also dropped one of the other rule 5 guys this year. And the rule 5 guy the year prior to Flaherty never panned out.
