If you call a hit and run you have to hit the ball or runner is a dead duck. Now Lough could have made it but its hindsight.

Yes. You as a runner are slower on a hit and run as you are waiting to hear the crack of the bat and to look for the ball. Straight steal you head is 100% of the way.
