Its a process of elimination - Roster decisions

Sure, but the reason was a health issue that was contrived. Do you think Chen would have had fatigue if they didn't need the spot? Supposedly they say he was fatigued after the June 10 start. So, you let a "fatigued" pitcher pitch 8 innings. Then after he says he now feels great you send him out because he's fatigued. ????

They just didn't want him to face the Blue Jays.

I guess I'll put this here, Roch said that Gonzalez will pitch next Thursday. That would be Gausman's turn. So are they going to move him to the bullpen, keep him in the rotation but move him back a day, or send him down to Norfolk?

Do you have an easier question? That one has too many variables. Wright? Gausman? Wilson? When Gonzo and Chen return who goes to the pen and who is starting in Norfolk? You would have to be a Buck mind reader to know that.

Gausman should go to Norfolk and pitch on regular rest for a bit IMO.

Exactly. And Boras should be grateful since it artificially helps his free agent numbers in the offseason.

So let's revisit your phantom injury.

Since we cleared up that Chen was optioned and not DL.

When's the last phantom injury this team had?

DD interviewed on XM MLB made it very clear that Chen was healthy. Said he was optioned because they wanted to go with all RHP v TOR. Also said Chen pitches stronger with extra rest. Gonzo was definitely injured, he had to leave a game early because of a groin pull. Garcia normally throws in the upper 90's and was throwing in the lower 90's, so I wouldn't say he was definitely a phantom DL. People give to much credence to this phantom idea.

Three games in the row of Snider, Lough and Parmelee. What up Buck? No Reimold, Pearce, or Young? Adam will take his place when healthy but what does this mean for the future?
I think it means he likes the Platoon and it also gives him a chance to get a longer look at, Snider, Parmelee, and Lough, because sooner than later an OF has to go.

Sorry, I didn't mean to offend anyone by posting a similar thread. I was trying to put all the OF options in one place and rank them.

My idea was to keep the present hot hitters and shop the players who are expendable. I am not sure that I have ever seen Paredes with a mit on his hand, so Buck must be scared of him on the field. He is only a DH and if his production falls then he becomes an option for DFA. They may not get rid of all the players that I was suggesting could go- shop them all and see what happens. I am wondering how much of the playing time for some of these guys (especially Snider) is to showcase them for trade bait as much as seeing what they have for the O's.

They wanted to DL Ryan Webb for an injury he was already over. He refused.

Wouldn't have been the first player to not be totally honest about being healthy.

But, you have a point, this could be consider questionable.

You also could count the arms, and Webb might have been concerned about being on the 25 man roster and not being odd man out, like he had been the end of 2014.

    • And I see Cowser is in CF today. Can’t wait for him to not get to a ball Ced would have and have everyone beside themselves in the game thread about it.
    • Elias has spoken about the Holliday family emphasis on hard work.  The father and the sons.
    • And I’m pretty sure those 9th in the lineup have all been recently. That is how you react to a veteran player struggling for a bit. NOT benching him when you have no one ready to take his spot anyway.
    • We have one of the best lineups in baseball with Mullins and Mateo. Our top 5 has the highest cumulative OPS of any lineup in baseball, other than the Dodgers. We are one of the highest scoring teams in the league. That’s hardly just ‘surviving’ with Mullins and Mateo.   Who are you proposing is a better ALL AROUND option than Mullins?  This idea that we need a .750+ OPS (or whatever number you want to settle on) at every spot 1-9 is overblown and stupid. Mullins has a track record as a productive offensive player and his defense is unquestionably good. No team in the league is benching a player like that because he looks bad for a few weeks at the plate. NO TEAM. Especially when there are ZERO attractive options to replace him. You move him down in the lineup, which has been done, and you wait it out.    If you had Bradfield tearing it up in AAA, this MIGHT be a different conversation. But he’s not there, and neither is anyone else.    We have people clamoring for Hays to get back now after all the whining about his hitting. The lack of patience amongst the otherwise highly educated and knowledgeable fan base here is astounding.
    • The worry is injuries: GRod, Bradish, Means, Kimbrel(-ish) Wells, etc. how do we anticipate and prevent injuries is the new goal. I have no stats on the subject, and I’m not sure there are any, but I’m not sure we’re doing that well.
    • Kjerstad can make or break his case for more playing time today.  Big test defensively.  If he and Cowser look good it certainly opens up this alignment for the near future and even longer term.  Fingers crossed. Note to both players.  Just hit the cutoff man and throw to 2B to hold the runner at 1B instead of attempting the impossible play at home plate.
    • Elias was more impressed with Hollidays work ethic?    That’s your opinion.  Is it based on anything?
