Wearing number 8.

In May of 2009, I went to Scranton, PA and saw a Tides game vs. the AAA-Yankees.

Their 1st base coach was wearing #7, in dark blue pinstripes. It looked peculiar.

I also got to see Wieters and Reimold play before they got to the Majors in that game (I also saw Wieters play for AA-Bowie in a doubleheader on the final game of the season against Harrisburg in September of 2008.)

The Orioles went 24-18 in Hardy's absence.

That's a .571 winning percentage (about 93-69 when computed to 162 games.)

Not bad.

The team ERA was 3.77 with J J Hardy in the lineup.

The team ERA was 4.49 in his absence.

Good info. Thanks.

So if the pitching (the starting pitching, in particular) makes even a modest improvement with Gallardo coming back, Despaigne up from AAA-Norfolk, and Jimenez and Wright gone from the rotation, the team overall should be in pretty good shape.

(MAY 2nd)

And now, the Orioles have to play without his services for at least a month-and-a-half.

While the Orioles won yesterday's game in Hardy's return, the shortstop himself hit a double in 3 plate appearances.
