Does this team represent the best chance we are going to have to go to the World Series for a while?

Suppose we traded for Shoemaker or Santiago, signed Reddick or Jay Bruce for RF, added a C like Castro or Hundley, and picked up a DH like Pedro again or Beltran ,Moss, or Lind. We'd still have a pretty potent offense, and a better rotation with Tillman, Guasman, Gallardo, Bundy and Shoemaker /Santiago. And a strong pen again depending on what they did about Britton. Would that team have at least as good a chance?

Here all the starters who posted an ERA below 3.50 in the playoffs as starters last year for Kansas City:

Nobody

The KC lesson is if you can get in the playoffs, and have a wipe out bullpen, you can win the whole thing without a TOR starter. KC had Cueto ? and he had a great start in the WS ? but for the playoffs as a whole posted a 5.40 ERA and was flat our putrid in the LCS. Yet, they won it all anyway.

A guy like Britton in select playoff games can stretch out for 2 or 3 innings when we need it. We should be taking a shot at this year.

For some reason it seems like people WANT this team to fail. WANT to have this imaginary "window" of competitiveness. Want to believe that the ENTIRE building will come crashing down at any minute now.

Where the hell have you been for the last 4 years? Watching some other team? Do you not get it yet?

This team is perfectly set up for the next few years (salary wise, if Pete wants to maintain the current payroll), how about we worry about 2016 and not 2018.....or 2019....this is getting ridiculous.

I can't tell who this comment is directed at. if we are worrying about 2016, then you are OK with trading some of our top farm guys to go for it this year, right?

I agree that it's a fallacy to think good starting pitching is a must in the playoffs. It certainly helps if you have it. The patterns of days off allow you to rely more heavily on your bullpen than you otherwise would, and to avoid using your worst starting pitcher.
