Blame the Chris Davis signing if you want. If Duquette had his way Trumbo would be playing 1B.

The real issue was the Dexter Fowler non-signing. Trumbo would be the everyday DH if not for the Fowler situation.

When you are running out three outfielders with below average range stuff is going to drop no matter where you put them.

Yep, no doubt. But limiting the damage is the idea late in games. Balls dropping in won't hurt as long as three or four aren't strung together. But a double that scores one of the slowest guys in the league is preventable barring any bad hops or strange caroms.

Markakis has been a below average offensive and defensive player this season, he was a below average player last year as well, and still has 2 years on his deal at 11 per.

He can still play, just not well.
