Time to go on the road and prove we're a playoff team

We need to win at least three of the 6 on the road..and even if we do, its no certainty we get in.Tuesday nights game is massive.

I agree Tuesday night's game is pretty huge. Winning it would take a ton of pressure off.

ESPN says it's Gausman vs. Sanchez, Tillman vs. Liriano, and Jimenez vs. Stroman. Should be a whale of a series.

So who throws the wildcard playoff tie breaker, if there is one?

Depends what Buck does with the rotation over the weekend. However, Tillman is definitely one of the options, assuming he's pitching on Wednesday this week. He'll have had four days of rest by next Monday.

Closing out the season that he started, that would be a fitting end, if there has to be a playoff for the WC.

This is where the rubber meets the road.

Tampa - playing better but a team we have dominated and need to continue to dominate.

Boston - a team we are chasing and need to catch in the AL East.

Detroit - we are in a flat footed tie for the 2nd wild card, they have a much easier schedule than we do ahead, and we cannot afford to lose a series to them.

We haven't played well on the road and that needs to change, NOW! Go, Orioles !!!

o

(SEPTEMBER 30th)

The Orioles have won 4 consecutive road series ........ 3 of which came against teams that they have been fighting with/jockeying for position with for a postseason berth (the Red Sox, the Tigers, and the Blue Jays.)

O's currently sit:

- Tied for the #1 WC spot

- +1.5 on Detroit

- +2.0 on Seattle

Seattle: 85-74 with 3 games left against the A's in Seattle

Detroit: 85-73 with 3 games left against the Braves on the road and 1 against the Indians at home (if necessary)

Toronto: 87-72 with 3 games left against the Red Sox in Boston

Baltimore: 87-72 with 3 games left against the Yankees in New York

Scenarios:

Win 3 of 3 (90-72)

- Guaranteed at least a WC spot regardless of what Detroit and Seattle do.

- If Toronto loses 1 game, O's guaranteed the 1st WC.

Win 2 of 3 (89-73)

- Not guaranteed a WC spot. However, O's guaranteed at least a tiebreaker against Detroit to be held in Baltimore.

- If the Tigers go 3-1 or worse, O's guaranteed a WC spot.

- If Toronto goes 1-2 or worse, O's guaranteed the 1st WC.

Working on 1 of 3 or 0 of 3 scenarios now....obviously a hell of a lot more complicated. Ideally we win at least 2 in New York and don't have to worry about this nonsense.

As down as I was after the Red Sox series (and I was WAY down), I'm starting to get pretty fired up again.

Though, as I've said before, hope is a dangerous thing.

Go get 'em, O's.

o

Going 5-1 over a 6-game span will do that for most fans.

We played probably our most complete team game of the year last night. I really would like to think that it would carry over into tonight's game. This NY series could be crazy with the weather. We could see delays and shortened games.

Get the lead early and make sure you have it after 5. We don't need to leave it up to the MLB office to burn us. Win the first two and see what happens for Sunday.
