Yup, but I see them as a way to fill out the rotation, and neither will probably be ready until 2019 or beyond, in a serious role.

Maybe 2018 getting their feet wet.

Just reading this, the thought of Tillman leaving after this year saddens me.  This is a guy you want in your organization.  A leader, a great teammate.  If they let him leave it'll be a big mistake, IMO.  Pay him.  Pay dat man his money.

Not as bad as when Mussina left, but, I agree, the impact will be felt, this is a core player to keep on your roster!

At what point do we learn from our mistakes and just move onto extending Gausman and Schoop before it gets too late?  Really this is the offseason to get them both done.  Tillman, Machado and Britton are already too close to FA.

Why should Dan extend them?  They are both under team control for the duration of his contract with the O's.

Bingo, there will be no extensions, there will be no trades of ML assets. DD will attempt to maintain a WC team for the next two years.... and then ?
