Good god I am going to miss him.  Beating a dead horse, but it's a shame they didn't extend him a while ago.  The Dejong extension from earlier today is a reminder that the smarter teams extend their players before they become expensive.

It was new to me he is close with Jon Jay.  I wonder if that was considered as a soft factor in Machado recruitment before going for Rasmus.  For a token MLB salary and a player with some complementary skills to what we have, it couldn't have hurt much to do a friend a favor.

Interesting that he says he had pain in his knees.   I wonder if that factors into team not wanting to extend him.

I think it could potentially factor into him getting less money than everyone expects (not that I'm rooting for that.  I hope he gets a paid) but  I'll be curious to see how the knees check out in physicals.  Just watching him run and move, his gait is still very odd, so I wouldn't at all be shocked if the knees started to wear down a bit prematurely. 

Hope I'm wrong, as he is my favorite player and it would suck to see this.
