Gausman vs. Sabathia. Yankee Stadium. Friday night in April.

I think those particulars are enough to call to mind the worst trauma of the 2017 season.

But here's where it gets eerier. That night, I was at a concert by Canadian indie faves the New Pornographers at the 9:30 Club. The O's were rolling as we enjoyed drinks before the show. During the opener, the Yankees kept drawing closer. They finally tied it off Brach as the NPs took the stage and it basically ruined the concert for me, even though they're one of my favorite bands.

I don't go to concerts very much anymore. I mostly find them a hassle. I go to maybe one a year. And I'm going to one tonight. With Gausman facing Sabathia in New York, on Friday night. Okay, it's not the same band. It's Broken Social Scene. But they're also Canadian indie faves from the same era!

The coincidence has me absolutely terrified. I'm definitely turning my phone off the entire night.
