Sad sad sad.

Felix Hernandez left Monday's game in the fifth inning with a left leg injury,

Hernandez, who had a grand slam off Johan Santana in the contest, was injured while covering home plate on a wild pitch. Carlos Beltran slid into him, leaving him with an apparent ankle injury.

Hank Steinbrenner was heard from across town saying, "You see. This is why they shouldn't make pitchers play defense."

Never forget the second part of every Hamfisted Hank quote:

This is Yankee$world...the rest of you cheap b******s are just leaching off it. Gimme back my revenue sharing money, ya bum ya!

X-rays negative. Felix said he will make his next start, but you expect Felix to say that. He has the heart of a lion.

After the incident the M's let him try a pitch off the mound to see how he felt. Felix threw the pitch, was in obvious pain as he hobbled off the mound, then begged for one more pitch. M's pretty much said no way.

If only Bedard had half the amount of heart Felix has they'd actually be a good duo. Fact is Bedard is missing his start on Wednesday because of "back spasms". I put quotations around it because pretty much everyone believes his injury is not that serious.

What a season. What.A.Season.

You don't possibly know how serious his "back spasms" are.

Did you actually just use the term "heart of a lion" in all seriousness?

Plus, as a person who has come down with back problems, don't jest about a dude who is having back problems. You already hated the guy before he put the uniform on, we got it already.

Exactly. Back problems suck. I have them and it's the worst when you just have a constant searing pain in your lower back. Perhaps if I was more "lyin' hearted" like Chris Jericho I could ignore the pain and persevere.:laughlol:

This quote from Jim Riggleman:

“As he walked off (the field), the closer he got to the dugout you could see the pain he was in.” (Source

If he's faking he's doing a damn good job.

Oh, and...

I can't imagine what it would feel like to try and pitch, at the ML level, when my back is all tight and sore like it is in the morning.

So back spasms are ok to pitch through but an ankle sprain isn't?:confused:

Um, Felix wanted to stay in. He pleaded but the M's said no way.

Bedard sets his own pitch count.

One of them wants to be in there, the other one couldn't care less, and has acted like it on and off the field.
