This. Santander has been surprisingly good in RF so far, and if he can move over to CF without embarrassing himself he can be a much more valuable player going forward.

Yeah he was Mancini bad last year.  Hyde said he worked really hard on his defense in the minors.

A 3-10 pitcher going against a 3-11 pitcher.  You don't see that everyday.

I think Martin has the athleticism for the transition.  Many SS have become CF in the past.  The question is whether Hyde is looking for more defensive or offensive production in CF.  Martin wouldn't be the answer for offense, but I think he has the speed and arm strength to handle CF.

I think, with DJ Stewart on his way back, the O's want to see if Santander is a passable CF. If so, they could part ways with Broxton or possibly Wilkerson and still have room for Stewart, Santander, and Smith all in the outfield.

I think Broxton or Wilkerson or both will be off the major league team very soon.

Martin also can’t hit. Hard pass. He would likely be a worse fielding and hitting version of Broxton.

Looks like they are going with their best defensive line up to back up Cashner.  Trying to do what they can to bump his performance to lure trade suitors.

Coincidentally, some of their stronger defenders hit lefties better (Martin, Broxton, Severino)

Nice to see Davis not getting the start against LHP even though he mashed the ball last night. Buck would probably have Davis back in the cleanup spot or batting 5th.

Hyde too, he tried that earlier this season during Davis' first hot streak. Give him credit for learning quickly and revising his approach.
