Our reluctance to enter the international free agent pool has affected the talent in the organization. Apparently, that's supposed to change. Hopefully we'll start spending more in that area. By more I mean on some of the more prominent international prospects. The next signing period should be really telling about the state this rebuild.

Elias has already said to not expect much as players have already developed relationships with clubs.  Although we should surely invest in international players, most of the guys are 16 and it will be a long time before we see any positive effects of it.

It will be interesting to see if there are any worthy players not already committed to other teams that warrant a decent sized bonus.   If you think about it, reaching an informal agreement with a 14-year old kid to pay him $1 mm+ when he's 16 is a very risky business.   There's such a huge difference in physical and even mental development at that age.    Heck, it's hard enough to pick the right 18-year olds in the draft and guess who will be a good major leaguer some day.    Doing that for a 14-year old has to be crazy hard.    So you'd think there might be some emerging 16-year olds who weren't obviously talented at 14 and can been plucked.
