I think this is something that will be targeted at the next CBA negotiations.  I am sure teams like the Yankees, Dodgers, and Red Sox are not happy that they have to do revenue sharing and the other teams are just pocketing  the money.

I agree ... Things need to change! Tanking on purpose is a way to rebuild but it sucks for the fans.

Baseball needs a hard cap that will fix the problem and most teams will try every year. Perhaps more of a divisional breakdown like the NFL has would be better.

Really? I think that is back when you and I were young.

Every year the Ravens spend every last dollar that they can. The Cowboys as much as I dislike Jerry Jones as a GM they do as well. The Yankees, Dodgers, and other teams would spend way more if they didnt have to manage the luxury tax issues.

I'm truly disgusted with the direction of the Orioles! I am pissed that the Angelos families ownership has wasted all of my adult life with their shenanigans! But this takes the cake as the worst thing I've ever seen. The inability to get anything of value for Villar and are now giving him away for free.

Not caring about the fans that pay for the product or even MASN cable dues.

This is like 143rd on the list during Angelos’ ownership. You must be the only Oriole fan that was tuning in to watch Villar play. I hope you recorded his at bats for maximum enjoyment.

I don't think Mark Cuban has lost money owning the Mavericks.

That isn't the point ...He's a huge basketball fan! He invests heavily in the team. He can own and or invest in many businesses.

Let me know when he spends half of the allowed salary cap and pockets the balance.

You'll be waiting forever!

That was also back when we were young. The Dodgers are not a vanity franchise, and many other teams are not.

Stolen bases directly impact WAR as they lead to more base running runs.

C'mon man. Read the whole thing. A stolen base percentage of around 80 percent has a small positive, but not substantial impact on baserunning runs, it was all the other things he did on the bases.

If he stole 60 and was thrown out 30 times it would be a negative impact.

Going back to your comment about rich guys buying teams as toys, have you checked what Jerry Jones was worth when he bought the Cowboys and what he's worth now?

I can't see how a salary cap would prevent teams from tanking to get top draft picks/

    • I have two tickets to Game 1 of the WC which I cannot use due to work travel.  Section 352, row 4, seats 9 & 10.  Asking $70 total for the two.  Paid $205 to the Orioles as a season plan member.   PM me if interested.  Paypal preferred.
    • Can't make game 1. I'll be at game 2...last time I was at a playoff game at Camden, we beat Scherzer and the Tigers.
    • He should be taking fly balls all winter.
    • That was a lot of fun. Felt like there are certain elite seasons that had to be part of the team, and then tried to build from there.  Outfield depth is a little shaky, as is the rotation — though the latter is probably mostly unavoidable. The lineup would rake and the bullpen would shove, so pretty happy with this combination.   C 2022 Adley Rutschman (5.4 rWAR) 1B: 1998 Rafael Palmeiro (6.3) 2B: 2005 Brian Roberts (7.3) 3B: 2015 Manny Machado (7.5) SS: 2024 Gunnar Henderson (8.9) LF: 1999 Brady Anderson (5.9) CF: 2021 Cedric Mullins (5.9) RF: 2008 Nick Markakis (7.4) DH: 2013 Chris Davis (7.1) Bench: 2003 Melvin Mora (4.7) Bench: 2006 Miguel Tejada (4.5) Bench: 2011 Matt Wieters (5.2) Bench: 2001 Jeff Conine (2.9)   SP: 2000 Mike Mussina (5.7) SP: 2007 Erik Bedard (5.7) SP: 2019 John Means (4.4) SP: 2002 Rodrigo Lopez (3.7) SP: 2010 Jeremy Guthrie (4.5) RP: 2016 Zach Britton (4.1) RP: 2023 Felix Bautista (3.0) RP: 2004 B.J. • Gray started off well  but then ran out of steam a bit. He's not getting any younger. I was interested in him last year but I think the Cardinals overpaid and his contract only gets worse.
    • A bit. Nothing life changing, but the format seems…Cleaner.
