I'm confused. Why would there be a need to request release waivers? If he isn't tendered by the Monday deadline, he can elect free agency, right? The O's would no longer have him under contract if they fail to tender, right?

Yes, so this is the thing. If he’s actually on waivers he can’t be traded. If he’s actually on waivers, there is zero benefit to doing that vs non-tendering him. If he’s still on the 40, he’s not on waivers.

Will all due respect Mancini gets paid to play baseball not evaluate talent. So find a better source to back your argument.

Bill, have you ever played organized sports? I ask because if you had, I think you would understand playing on team with a bad teammate. I think Mancini as a team leader is qualified to have an opinion on a teammate that he's been with 1 1/2 years.

Either way ...You go find a source from the Orioles saying that he was a problem, cancer, etc.

It isn't evidence of anything.

Mancini said something nice, the rest of the team has said nothing, do they all dislike him?

This is really getting absurd Corn .... I mean really ...Why even have a discussion

Villar sucks ...he shouldn't even be playing in the majors. The stats lie! He's a worse teammate than Antonio Brown!

Ok ...your right ...you always are .... Im done

Professionally? No. Through high school? Yes. And Mancini has no reason to air dirty laundry. Even if he thinks Villar was a bad teammate he probably wouldn't say it publicly. Even in this social media era, it's frowned upon to talk outside of the clubhouse.

Wow, this is interesting.

If the reporters have it THIS wrong, I'd think some front office person would make a confidential call to say "you might want to fix your reporting....."

It would be incompetent of Mancini to criticize a teammate with public comments.

But the difference is he would objectively say vanilla statements. Not go out of the way to praise him, his leadership, and say he is the most underrated player.

For example .... Villar has a great year and we are going to miss him. We wish him the best of luck catching on somewhere else.

A teammate saying something nice about a teammate isn't evidence of much of anything.  A union member saying something nice about another union member isn't evidence of much of anything.

It just isn't.

I have not been saying anything bad about Villar.  Go back and check.  I've been saying that other teams don't covet him.  That looks to be the case.

No idea why you suddenly decided to make this personal.
