O's at Rays, March 7

Our previous crack talent evaluators gave up on Roe....who has been effective for Rays now for couple of years.  Mountcastle still has much to learn.

Zimmerman again gets Rays 123.  K, 63, and PO 5.

He is working crisply, in control, a very nice outing for him.

Banda pitching for Rays. Ruiz grounds out to first. Herrera  out 63.  Sisco tops a grounder to second that is booted and he is on first.

Carroll on for O'S

Rays announcers agree that Zimmerman looked good. Good command  and his effort will aid his cause of making O's.

Carroll has hit 96-98. Strikes out a batter after giving up a pop to center and a hard hit single to right. Strikes out another batter and announcers said he hit 98mph. Martinez lines a hard single to left. Mountcastle  throw way off line and runner scores standing.

Carroll strikes out another on a 98 mph fastball. 1-0 Rays.

Fastballs only from Carroll will not work...he can throw that little slider all he wants but never throws it for a strike.

Williams single. Velazquez hits into a 643 DP. Alberto shallow fly out to center.

This lineup is pretty easy to mow through as the Rays pitchers are doing.

Branden Kline on for the O's. Gets a fly out to center, and another fly out to  center. Meadows walks, then a single to left against the shift, runners on first and third.
