The deadline is looming...Is Elias done?

Nice article posted below mentions Iglesias, Cobb, Castro, and Alberto as possibles

I know the Yankees are looking for pitching and haven’t made a move yet.

I like Castro but if I can get a Givens like return I move him.

I still think there is a chance Cobb is moved if the Os eat some 2021 money

Iglesias could go for a decent return, I wonder why people are calling him:a rental. He has a very friendly team option

Alberto is a wildcard for me....I’d like to see him stay and my asking price would be very high.

I’m thinking Elías ends up holding onto Cobb unless he gets a strong return (I assume we eat a sizable portion of the contract along with that).

Cobb finishing the season Healthy with around 3.75 - 4.00 ERA would make him a viable trade asset in the offseason, so no reason to trade him for the Cashner package.

Poorly done article.  Not only does Iglesias have an option which means he is not a rental but also Cobb is right-handed not left-handed.

I think Iglesias and Cobb are the most likely to go.  I think the offer would have to quite high for Elias to move Alberto or Castro.  They are both still young.

I am not sure Elias is done.  I think he is still trying to make more moves.

I listened to a clip of Elias on 105.7 and he doesn’t sound like a guy that’s done.

I agree on most of your points and even mentioned my issue with calling Iglesias a rental

My thought on Castro, Fry, Scott etc is if he can reproduce the return for Givens with any of them you did it in a heartbeat.

While I think it was a good return for Givens because he is a year and a month from FA, and is 30 years old,  I would want a lot more for Castro, and Scott.   They are younger, cheaper and have more years of control left.

“Our group is still working and is very active during this trade deadline tonight and tomorrow, and we expect the conversations to continue and we’ll see if anything else takes place,” Elias said in today’s Zoom conference call with the media.

Exactly. Scott is under control through 2024 and is still improving. Hopefully the plan is to be competitive before then. Not sure why to trade him unless the return is huge.

Fry and Castro, I don't really care about trading. I think they already are what they are going to be. So, if you can get something for them now, go ahead and deal them.

Problem with Iglesias right now is he hasn’t been healthy enough to play the field.

Without the ability to do that his value is none.

Cobb would be a salary dump because of his contract. Might get a decent prospect back if we eat a lot of it.

You are very much overrating Castro.  If we can even get one top 15 prospect for him, he should be gone.

We got 2 for Givens and perhaps another high ceiling player.

The relief market appears to be high. Castro will always have luster to some as he throws 100MPH. I think he’s is always going to be wild. I think if you can get a comparable return and assume he’s not quite as good Givens but you have more control, you make the deal.

Maybe Yankees who need a starter and a reliever

Cobb and Castro plus 7.5 million

For

Gil, Lajure, Lockridge, and German

I’m surprised the Indians haven’t come to us begging for Santander.

Alberto would be genuinely useful to several teams, not sure why he’s still around.

Cobb isn’t going anywhere unless we literally give him away for cost savings.

Santander - Maybe they have.  That does mean Elias liked what they offered.

Alberto - He is also young, cheap, several years from FA  and useful to the O's.  Apparently there   has not been an offer Elias likes.

Cobb - Cost saving may be enough.

Was thinking about Alberto when the Padres trade was announced.  A trade for someone like Trammel would have been very interesting.  Would think Alberto would be at least as valuable as Nola?

    • I'm guessing that they could solve it this offseason if they want to. It's easy to put up a wall. What's difficult is putting in seating.
    • I think you can read a lot about the way he said things and his emotions while speaking. Just my opinion.
    • I think the opposite, Astro fans have an expectation of success, Oriole fans don't.
    • It could be a boon if you are targeting pitchers that are in a situation in which they need a one year make good deal to rehabilitate their value. Other than that,,,
    • Duh we brought in Kyle Giboson, Jordan Lyles, and Craig Kimbrel
    • The 13 game plan is guaranteed playoff tickets…….if you purchase them.  Since I assume you went through the team and chose your seat and purchased it with a card, you should get it back.   At least for me, my wife and I thought we were going to be moving 30 minutes away from our house, but instead of an hour from Baltimore, it would be 1 hour 45 minutes, so season tickets of any sort didn’t make sense.  I also figured that we would get hit with 4 pm games mid-week to start, so it all just didn’t make sense.   I am also surprised that my rep didn’t reach out to ask why.  I opted in before as a 29 game holder, in 2014, 15 and 16.  I went back to 29 games this year after two seasons with 13, and I’ve been a Birdland member since 2014.  Oh well.  We may be opting back into 13 next year, or not at all.  We will have to see.  My wife will sometimes get tickets from work, and they were always when we had tickets, so it didn’t make sense to take them.
    • That Jimmy Fallon movie was Fever Pitch.  Came out in late 2004 I think, because they had enough time to have the last scene being him and Drew Barrymore on the field in St. Louis celebrating the World Series win.  It actually was a really good movie at the time. But because the Red Sox and their fanbase became completely insufferable beginning with that comeback against the Yankees and carrying all the way through their 4 championships without so much as a loss in the World Series, it is hard for me to still enjoy it. But the underlying premise and that question of what has your favorite team ever done for you definitely resonated and certainly does even more so now with the Orioles.  And for Os fans the answer to that question is over the last 40 years, they haven't done much at all.
