Fry should not have even started that inning. Down 6, that's the perfect time to give Sceroler a clean inning. Fry sucked and put him in a bind, but why are using a pitcher that you would pull for Judge that early in the game already down by 6?

My guess is he was trying to get Fry back on track, but I say Fry is broke and needs to be cut. Otherwise I fully agree the kid should have started that inning.

He had 3 innings to get thru. Fry for one and the kid for 2 was probably plan. How does he know Fry will stink ? He hasn’t pitched. Needs work.

Armstrong used

No way Valdez, Scott, Plutko

Wells went yesterday.

Leaves start of 6th Fry, Tate, Sceroler and LeBlanc are options. Go back to Wells?

I think Armstrong was put in rough spot. I’ll agree there.

He should of let the kid start the inning when they were down 6. Let him start a clean inning, but to bring him in with bases loaded against Aaron Judge is just an awful decision no matter how it turned out. I actually lost respect for Hyde's understanding of the game for allowing that to happen. Sure, he got out of it because Judge was a guessing idiot for some reason, but no way a Rule 5 pick should make his debut in that situation. Just crazy.

It’s obvious that our manager thought that Armstrong, even as weak and worn out as he would be after just welcoming a baby into the world, was less risky than the rule five guy.

The real problem was that he should’ve pulled Lopez at the first sign of trouble.

Remember he knows Lopez his limits, he knows the signs that he’s getting tired,, he pulled him too late

I get why Sceroler was next, but he should have never have even been in that situation in the first place with any kind of foresight. LeBlanc is out there as well and could have been used if Sceroler sucked. Either way, you don't start with a vet and assume if he sucks you bring the kid into a mess in his major league debut.

It was was terribling managing. The more I see of Hyde the more I'm starting to think he struggles with having a good feel for the "what ifs". The manager's job is to put his players int eh best position to succeed. Vet managers don't do that to their rookies.

It worked out, but that’s about the only thing anyone can say regarding the move. Truly, a horrible decision....

    • This is an emotional reaction and a terrible one at that. Mansilini is not a problem on this team. And the pop fly with Jackson Holliday on 3rd, he should not have been sent home because the Feilder make a heck of a catch and they instantly threw the ball to the 3rd basemen. If Jackson would have tagged, he would have either gotten gotten himself thrown out at the plate, or been caught in a run down. Tell him to tag up would have been foolish.
    • So I guess you won’t be watching, right?
    • Special K is a reference to Ketamine.  You know, you could have said, Can, I did not know it was a drug reference, I can see why you would be opposed to that.  Instead you accuse me of insinuating that you have a drug habit. Do you think that giving a player the same nickname as a very common street name of a drug is a good idea? But your default reaction to any sort of criticism is to attack the person that has the audacity to question you, well that and to harp on how old you are as if that is relevant information.
    • I agree with those moves, but I could also see Elias and Hyde wanting to keep Holliday on the roster for the rest of the season and the playoffs to get some experience since he's going to be a core part of the team for what will hopefully be multiple playoff runs. I'd understand that line of thinking, and would be fine with it. But I do think Holliday should be on the bench the rest of the way in that scenario.  The only move I desperately want to see is Eloy released. He's such a bad player and such an insult to good baseball. I'll be relieved when he's gone.
    • I reckon it goes like this: Johnson for Urias Jackson for Westy Eloy for Mounty I think the O’s can’t chance the defensive issues from Holliday at this point. I’m still very high on him, but he got a ton of important experience and knows what to work on in the offseason.
    • Even if SEA wins tonight, wouldn't the Orioles clinch tomorrow if they win and SEA loses?
