Fair point but how many years of team control are left?   Time is starting to run out on waiting for this guy to develop some consistency.

I think many thought that he had finally taken the big step forward last season (1.31 ERA, walks down, WHIP barely over 1), but this season has been at least a half-step back. I know it seems like he's been around forever, but he's only just turned 27, which isn't old for a reliever, and has only pitched 156 innings in a total of less than four seasons and, like everyone acknowledges, the talent is definitely there. He deserves the full chance again next season.

The illogic in the desire to keep him is the obvious factor that Scott has shown what he is. He’s passed the time of development and coaching and guidance. He is what he is by now.

Unless there is a radical change in his approach to what he’s doing, he’s never going to be any different than he is now. That is like breathlessly anticipating an invention that will suddenly solve a crucial problem.

Do you want to keep him if he will never be anything than he is now? And the crowd screams, “no.”

In that case, don’t keep him, get rid of him down for whatever you can get for him.
