I said I would be happy to trade Mountcastle and Stewart... wouldn’t you be? Is anyone on the team off limits? I’m thinking “no”

But you won’t get anything for either one

To say you won't get anything for Mountcastle - a top 100 prospect who crushed last summer - is absurd.  There is no way you can say that with a straight face.

The problem with guys not coming up is not just at the major league level.  People see it just up here say we want to bring up Wynns.  He isn’t on the 40 man so you have to make room for him by releasing someone else.  Let’s just say the release Sisco to make room on the 40 man.  Now you are short at Norfolk so you have to make A move Adley to Norfolk but you don’t want to push him.  Then you either have to trade for one or sign one off waivers.  It isn’t just a 1 for 1 move.

Well, it’s probably  irrelevant because it won’t happen,  but let’s see if his name comes up any.

It's incorrect and insane.  Irrelevant isn't the right word for it.  C'mon, you're a smart guy.  What in the world are you talking about, that we wouldn't get anything for Mountcastle?

You have got to be kidding. Mountcastle has tons of value.  We would get more for him than for Mancini, for example, not that we would consider trading Mountcastle.

Of course we should consider trading him. If we are discussing trading Means, shouldn’t we be listening on anyone? But it’s irrelevant because he won’t be traded.

Actually...No.

Norfolk has 3 catchers right now. Wynns, Cumberland and Taylor Davis. If you send Sisco down, you aren’t short. To get the 40 man spot, they can call up Richie Martin and put him on the 60 day DL, as he is hurt and out for the season. Or, put Marc Screlor on the 60. Open roster spot.

If Means had five years of control left no one would be discussing trading him. No one.

(Yes I know there's always the "listen to a deal for anyone" concept.  But realistically no rebuilding team is going to trade a top 100 prospect with 5 years of control left).

Kremer has two pretty good inning and one where he really struggled with his command, a bad strike zone, and a poor catcher.

He still can right this and have a 5 inning effort that he can look at as progress, IMO, despite the runs allowed.

    • I am with you on this.   This is what Elias does.   Like O'Hearn.   Elias signs Rivera for about 1M, and brings him to ST.    If there is not room for him on the roster on OD Elias DFAs him and tries to get him through waivers to play at AAA.    Then he is available whenever the injuries occur.   I could see Elias doing the same thing with Bowman.
    • I think the Orioles will tender him arbitration. Before anyone gets too worked over this possibility, keep in mind we also reached an Arb-1 deal with Sam Hilliard last year. Despite the gold glove, Rivera is a better defender than Ramon, but Urias is the better hitter and superior overall player.  However, Urias will also cost more and could bring back more in a trade.   Further, Urias could get injured at some point.  If Urias is injured in spring training, then yes “something went wrong to cause Rivera to be on the OD roster”, but it will still be good to have this depth.
    • I’ve watched enough baseball to know that any team that makes the playoffs can get hot and do well once the postseason begins.  I’m not optimistic about the playoffs, but it also wouldn’t shock me if the O’s made some noise.  It’s a matter of getting the pitching and hitting on the same page.
    • ha! I didnt say it WOULD all come together,THATS a jinx,I said they MIGHT all come together...that doesnt qualify as a jinx...
    • Mayo would likely need to be optioned when Westburg/Urias/Mountcastle return.  By doing it today instead of tomorrow or Tuesday, Mayo’s 10-day minimum option length will be over in time for him to be eligible for wildcard series.  On the other hand, it’s hard to imagine a scenario where Mayo makes the postseason roster unless there is an injury (in which case there would be an exception to the 10-day rule).
    • Why would he want to?
    • Rivera on this club next year would be a step back. He can’t sniff Ramon’s jock. If he’s back on this roster to start the season, something went wrong.
