Multiple moves. Armstrong, Waddell DFA

Leyba is a bit like Hanser Alberto as a hit tool guy who is limited to 2B due to a below average arm (according to scouting report i found from a Diamondbacks site).

He served an 80-game suspension for testing positive for a banned substances, but didn't hit in his opportunity with AZ this year though he seems to love to hit at elevation in Reno. Not a ton of upside here, but the team must like him more than Urias so expect him to be DFA'd when Valaika comes off the Bereavement list.

As for Armstrong, he had a nice run but just looked bad all year this year. I doubt he will be claimed so he would be smart to accept a AAA assignment if offered because if he pitches well in Norfolk, he could always come back.

I don't think Valaika is off the 40 man roster for bereavement.   So they should not have DFA Urias,  just option him.

Bottom line is that we’re not willing to cut bait with anyone with guaranteed money. Whether that is Chris Davis or Shawn Armstrong.

This is a team constructed to lose hard and to make money. The on the field product doesn’t matter.

It’s embarrassing. I’m not a Waddell supporter, but you release a guy that can eat innings, and has options, for a guy that is lost?  Only because he has a guaranteed 825k.

At what point do the O’s cut bait with Armstrong, Franco, and Matt Harvey?  Guess we haven’t gotten our money’s worth.

If you’re going to lose 110+, darn then lose it with some guys that might be here next year. Because they won’t.

I don't think this is correct as I said in the other thread.

Huh?   You post this in a thread in which it is announced that we have DFA'd Armstrong????

That IS cutting bait.   We just cut bait with Armstrong and you are screaming that we aren't?

Step away from the ledge.

    • I'm guessing that they could solve it this offseason if they want to. It's easy to put up a wall. What's difficult is putting in seating.
    • I think you can read a lot about the way he said things and his emotions while speaking. Just my opinion.
    • I think the opposite, Astro fans have an expectation of success, Oriole fans don't.
    • It could be a boon if you are targeting pitchers that are in a situation in which they need a one year make good deal to rehabilitate their value. Other than that,,,
    • Duh we brought in Kyle Giboson, Jordan Lyles, and Craig Kimbrel
    • The 13 game plan is guaranteed playoff tickets…….if you purchase them.  Since I assume you went through the team and chose your seat and purchased it with a card, you should get it back.   At least for me, my wife and I thought we were going to be moving 30 minutes away from our house, but instead of an hour from Baltimore, it would be 1 hour 45 minutes, so season tickets of any sort didn’t make sense.  I also figured that we would get hit with 4 pm games mid-week to start, so it all just didn’t make sense.   I am also surprised that my rep didn’t reach out to ask why.  I opted in before as a 29 game holder, in 2014, 15 and 16.  I went back to 29 games this year after two seasons with 13, and I’ve been a Birdland member since 2014.  Oh well.  We may be opting back into 13 next year, or not at all.  We will have to see.  My wife will sometimes get tickets from work, and they were always when we had tickets, so it didn’t make sense to take them.
    • That Jimmy Fallon movie was Fever Pitch.  Came out in late 2004 I think, because they had enough time to have the last scene being him and Drew Barrymore on the field in St. Louis celebrating the World Series win.  It actually was a really good movie at the time. But because the Red Sox and their fanbase became completely insufferable beginning with that comeback against the Yankees and carrying all the way through their 4 championships without so much as a loss in the World Series, it is hard for me to still enjoy it. But the underlying premise and that question of what has your favorite team ever done for you definitely resonated and certainly does even more so now with the Orioles.  And for Os fans the answer to that question is over the last 40 years, they haven't done much at all.
